SOUTH AFRICA WW1

360° /VR short film

South Africa World War One reinvents South Africa’s commemoration of the First World War, making it more accessible and more inclusive. South Africa World War One is a VR film that tells the story of South Africa’s harbour workers; of the country’s rich natural resources in funding the war economy and of battlefield experiences of all population groups across Africa, Palestine and Europe.

MBD worked with Aston University and KwaZulu-Natal museum in South Africa to create two VR films that are part of the museums permanent exhibition, and shared online. The project was funded by AHRC and Arts Council England.

The full story behind these films, and an array of accompanying resources can be found at southafricaww1.com
