INFINITE MUSEUM

ARTIST PRACTITIONER OPEN CALL - Infinite Museum Artist Residency

We are excited to announce an open call for artist practitioners to take part in a paid residency as part of the Infinite Museum project, run by South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership and MBD. You will contribute to a co-created immersive virtual reality (VR) project. The Infinite Museum is an innovative project that uses VR to bring historical artefacts and local stories to life, making them accessible to a wider audience in an engaging and immersive way.

The co-design process will need four days of your time, it will utilise your creativity for a shared artwork, and it is a chance to learn how new technology and VR can be used for your work, and the sector.

The residency will take place from 27 to 30 November 2024, you will receive full credits for your contributions plus £1,000, making this a valuable paid opportunity for local artists. The final VR experience will be open to the public, providing you with an excellent opportunity to expand your professional network and gain recognition for your work in an innovative and collaborative environment.

You don’t need any prior technical knowledge. We encourage writers, poets, narrative designers, sound designers, visual artists, and illustrators to apply. If you have tech skills like game engine development, 2D, or 3D art, that’s great too, but we welcome all creative practices. We will shortlist artists based on creativity, relevance to the project theme, and experience.

You will explore collection items at Ayscoughfee Hall, Spalding and transform one of these artefacts into an immersive VR experience for the Infinite Museum. In the sessions, you will combine different art forms and technology to create a unique and impactful artistic experience that brings historical artefacts to life through VR. You will collaborate with other artists and may take responsibility for specific parts of the experience, ensuring a cohesive final product.
