OVERVIEW EFFECT
360 VR SHORT FILM
THE PROJECT
Overview Effect is a 360-degree animated short film that recreates the historic moment of the landing on the moon. It is a 3D pop-art animation that shares the view of the Apollo 11 astronauts from the moon's surface and reveals their shift in understanding. As they saw the earth from afar, they reassessed the fragility of the planet we call home.
Overview Effect is a present day reflection on the effects of the human race on our planet. It is both a celebration of the achievements we are capable of, and a warning about the issues we choose to ignore.
It began as a large-scale projection on the wall of New Market Square in Leicester, shown to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. It was later repurposed as a VR film that has been shared online and at film festivals in the US and UK.

HOW WE DID IT
The show has been created in partnership with Inspirate with support from BID Leicester and Arts Council England. Overview Effect combines pop art style animation and an original soundtrack to mark this important landmark in history.
The animation showcases a soundtrack comprising of original NASA audio from the mission, new music and the speeches of two American presidents who saw the project from impossible idea, to a defining historical moment.
